Because Microsoft allows each person to "Activate" two copies of the Microsoft ebook reader software using one Microsoft passport, consumers can have copies of their ebooks on more than one device. Because each ebook has been personalized with a Microsoft passport, they can only be opened in copies of Microsoft Reader which have been activated to that Microsoft passport.
NOTE: Some books that are available for Microsoft Reader for the PC cannot be used on Microsoft Reader for the Pocket PC because these titles require a higher level of security that is not yet available on the Pocket PC.
To install the necessary software and transfer Microsoft ebooks to your handheld computer/PDA, follow these instructions:
- If your WindowsCE device did not come preinstalled with Microsoft Reader, download a copy of the software from Microsoft.
- Using an ActiveSync connection, install the Microsoft Reader software according to the instructions provided by Microsoft. If you do not know how to create or use an ActiveSync connection, please consult the instructions on using your WindowsCE device or visit www.microsoft.com.
- After installation, you'll be prompted to activate your copy of Microsoft Reader. This important step is required to purchase premium eBook titles that have been encrypted for distribution through the activation process. For more information on how to activate your Microsoft Reader for Pocket PC, visit www.microsoft.com.
- Using an ActiveSync connection, copy any Microsoft ebooks you wish to read on your PDA into your ActiveSync folder and synchronize your PocketPC with your computer. For more detailed instructions, please consult the instructions on using your WindowsCE device or visit www.microsoft.com.
- For more information about opening and reading Microsoft ebooks, please visit www.microsoft.com.
If you have not yet downloaded an ebook, please review the section on Downloading your first ebook. |
