Before you can download a Microsoft ebook, you must first install and certify (activate) the Microsoft Reader software (please note: if you are using a PDA, it is no longer necessary to have Microsoft Reader installed and activated on your desktop computer in order to purchase ebooks and transfer them to your PDA, but it is necessary to have it installed and activated on at least one device):
- Download a copy of Microsoft Reader for your computer or handheld PDA.
- Install Microsoft Reader on your computer or handheld PDA by following the instructions provided by Microsoft. Note: You must have administrative privileges to install Microsoft Reader on your computer.
- Activate your copy of Microsoft Reader.
- Visit the online retailer of your choice and select an ebook to purchase (or download one for free).
- Follow the instructions provided by the retailer for downloading the ebook file to your computer.
