What To Do |
| "The requested eBook title was not found." |
Contact your eBook retailer so that they can investigate an eBook numbering problem. |
| "The requested eBook title is currently not available for download at the time. This most often occurs when the title has not been released for general distribution. You may find out by contacting your eBook retailer." |
Some eBooks are offered for sale by retailers in advance of the date they are permitted (by the publisher) to be downloaded. Purchasing such an eBook allows you to reserve your copy early and obtain your download link "before the rush". If you attempt to download your eBook before the book is permitted to be downloaded (released), you will receive this message.
If you do not know when your eBook will be released for general distribution, you may contact your eBook retailer to find out. Otherwise, please wait until the general distribution day before attempting to download your eBook title again. |
| "The eBook has already been downloaded the permitted number of times." |
In order to protect their copyrighted eBook material, publishers determine how many times a copyrighted eBook may be downloaded. The number of times chosen most often by publishers is between 1 and 3. This means that for a book which the publisher allows to be downloaded 3 times, after the eBook has been successfully downloaded 3 times, no further downloads will be permitted.
If you have already downloaded your eBook but can't locate it, the help section "Can't Find the Downloaded eBook" will provide help on locating it on your computer. If this section does not resolve your problem, please contact your eBook retailer for instructions on how to obtain another copy. |
| "The requested eBook title cannot be downloaded at this time due to difficulty in communicating with the retail site. Please try again later." |
Contact your retailer so that they can investigate why communications difficulties are present. |
| "Before downloading and reading your new eBook, you first need to install Microsoft Reader. You may download and activate a copy of the Microsoft Reader ..." |
Download a copy of the Microsoft Reader, then activate it (instructions are in the Microsoft Reader Guidebook which comes with your Microsoft Reader). |
| "Before downloading and reading your new eBook, your Microsoft Reader needs to be properly activated ..." |
You will get this message for one of three reasons:
- Your Microsoft Reader is not installed
- Your Microsoft Reader is not activated (it is installed but not activated yet)
- Your Microsoft Reader out of date (you have previously installed and activated a Microsoft Reader but the version is not up to date)
You need to activate your Microsoft Reader by visiting the Microsoft Reader Update/Activation Site. The Microsoft Reader Guidebook, which came with your Microsoft Reader, will also provide detailed instructions on how to activate your Microsoft Reader. |
| "Invalid Retailer ID" |
Books from this eBook Retailer are not available yet or the system has detected an invalid retailer number. Contact your eBook Retailer. |
| "Server Timeout or Download Reset" |
This kind of problem is most often related to your internet connection or browser (usually related to a very slow connection or your ISP service provider resetting your connection automatically). Although the connection closes before the ebook is completely downloaded, we do not "timeout your connection" on our ebook fulfillment server and do not close any download attempts midstream. |
